PORTER

In Act 2 Scene 3 of MacBeth, there is a monologue by a character called Porter. Porter is the drunken gatekeeper of MacBeth’s castle. He is the comic relief. He is also almost always cut from every production.

In the original text, Porter admits MacDuff into the castle and then is never seen or heard from again. In THIS version of the story, however, we attempt answer the question that’s plagued scholar’s for centuries… what’s Porter doing for the other 5 Acts and 40 scenes of Shakespeare’s bloodstained Scottish tragedy?

Imagine “Nosies Off” went for a drink with "The Play That Goes Wrong” in an 11th-century Scottish tavern, that just happened to be run by the cast of Monty Python - this show’s sort of like that! From hiding bodies to gagging ravens, accidental witches to dressing up as an entire forest: PORTER is a retelling of Shakespearean proportions - packed with music, mayhem, dead Scottish Kings; and a sneaky little heart at it’s centre. Noisemaker’s proud to present a retelling of MacBeth absolutely nobody asked for (but everyone secretly needs!)
